Our Process
At Lappliq’, each piece is made slowly and thoughtfully, with care taken at every stage - from the first sketch to the finished textile.
Our process reflects a belief in small-batch production, considered design, and the value of taking time.
Design and Inspiration
Every design begins with a story.
Inspired by rural life, memory, and the Scottish landscape, motifs are drawn from moments both personal and familiar — garden flowers, countryside walks, and the quiet details of everyday life. Sketches are refined carefully before being translated into embroidery, allowing space for texture, balance, and playfulness to develop.
Embroidery & Making
Our pieces are embroidered in small runs in Scotland, using carefully chosen threads and fabrics.
Each design is built through considered stitch density, direction, and layering, creating depth and a rich, tactile surface. Working in small batches allows time for refinement at every stage, ensuring each piece meets our standards for quality and finish.
While embroidery is carried out using specialist machinery, every element — from design development to material choice and finishing — is guided by a hands-on, thoughtful approach.
Small-Batch Production
Lappliq’ operates on a small-batch model.
Producing limited quantities allows us to reduce waste, maintain quality, and keep the making process personal. It also means pieces may sell out — a natural part of working slowly and sustainably.
Finishing and Care
Each piece is carefully finished and checked before leaving the studio.
Thoughtful construction and quality materials ensure that Lappliq’ pieces are made to be lived with and enjoyed over time. Care instructions are provided to help extend the life of each item.
A Slower Approach
Lappliq’ exists to celebrate embroidery as both art and homeware.
By choosing small batches, considered processes, and local making, we aim to create pieces that feel meaningful — objects designed to bring texture, warmth, and quiet character into the home.
